1 Embryonic sac
continues to grow -- millions of villi attach to the placenta. |
2 |
3 Buds on ends of
embryonic arms and legs grow into webs that will become fingers and
toes.

|
4 Blood circulates
throughout the embryo. |

7 wks LMP (5 wks gestation)
You may notice a metallic taste in your mouth. The tongue can "taste"
only sweet, salty, sour, and bitter sensations. Weird tastes can be
caused by anything that interrupts the transfer of taste stimuli to the
brain, or conditions that affect the way the brain interprets taste
stimuli. |
| 6 Cells of
the liver, pancreas, stomach, and lungs begin to take shape. |
7 |
8 Embryonic sac
continues to fill with amniotic fluid to protect the baby. |

Lunar Month 3, 8 wks LMP (6 wks gestation)
Your baby is about the size of a coffee bean! Please stay away from diet
drinks and foods containing aspartame or saccharin. |
| 13 Baby
Weighs 0.04 ounces or 1 gram; 0.64 inches or 1.6 cm in length.

17 Embryo becomes a
fetus! Congratulations! All organs necessary to sustain life are formed |
18 |
19
9 wks LMP (7 wks gestation) You may
find your libido has changed. You will either not want to have sexual
relations, or your sex drive will increase. |
| 20 |
21 Baby's brain can be
seen in fetal photography. Intestines have formed outside the baby (on
the umbilical cord) because they can't fit inside yet. |
22
Baby weighs 0.07 ounces or 2 grams and is about 0.9 inches or 2.3 cm in
length. |
23 |
24 Kidneys become
functional and baby urinates into amniotic fluid. Sex organs begin to
develop.
1st Prenatal doctors visit |
25 Baby may begin
moving, though it's much too small to feel yet. |
26
10 wks LMP (8 wks gestation) You may
notice your gums are swollen and bleeding when you brush your teeth.
This is from hormones and increased blood flow. |
| 27 Oh my
aching back! Some women experience sciatic-nerve pain (a pain in the
rear end or legs) |
28 There is about one
ounce of amniotic fluid. Fingers and toes become more distinct. Baby
weighs 0.14 ounces or 4 grams. Baby is 1.22 inches or 3.1 cm in length. |
29 Exercise will make
you feel better, but take it easy; keep heart rate below 140 beats per
minute |
